Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats
Now that you have scanned your external environment, turn inward. The PESTLE told you what is true outside. The SWOT asks what is true about you โ and how you relate to that environment.
Cross Analysis
This is where a SWOT becomes a strategy. By crossing your quadrants, you identify four distinct types of strategic moves โ each with a different logic.
Read across your SWOT before answering each quadrant. The goal is not to summarize โ it is to identify specific strategic moves that emerge from the intersection. SO strategies use your strengths to capture opportunities. ST strategies use strengths to defend against threats. WO strategies address weaknesses so you can capture opportunities. WT strategies minimize vulnerabilities to reduce exposure to threats.
From Reflection to Decision
You have scanned your environment, assessed your position, and mapped your strategic options. Now commit to what it means. One sentence per row. No hedging.
This is where clarity becomes commitment. Read back through your PESTLE responses and your Cross Analysis before completing each row. Your answers here should be traceable to the evidence you surfaced โ not instinct, not habit, not what feels safe to write down. The most valuable version of this Synthesis is the one that surprises you a little.
